THUNDER BAY -- City police are investigating a trio of southside armed robberies reported overnight Tuesday.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say the first reported robbery took place at 6 p.m. when a man dressed in a red and black bush jacket and armed with a knife entered a North May Street business. Once inside, the man demanded money.

But the employee defended himself by picking up a nearby baseball bat,  thwarting the attempted robbery.

The second report came in two hours later just before 8:30 p.m.

Police say a man with a similar description as the suspect involved in the 6 p.m. attempted robbery entered a Arthur Street East business.

The man, armed with a knife, demanded money from an employee.

The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

The third reported robbery took place just after 10 p.m. In this case, police say a man wearing a grey hoodie and armed with “an edged weapon” entered a drug store on Memorial. The suspect demanded prescription drugs, and fled the scene on foot with undisclosed prescription drugs.

There were no injuries reported as a result of these incidents.

Anyone has any information regarding any of these robberies is asked to contact the Thunder Bay Police Service or Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers 623-8477.

UPDATE: Police have released video that show a suspect involved in the robbery of the Macs Convenience Store located on East Arthur Street.
