Body of missing Fort Frances man recovered

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- Police say they have found the body of a missing Fort Frances man. Officers with the Rainy River detachment of the OPP were notified about the missing 22-year-old just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- Police say they have found the body of a missing Fort Frances man.

Officers with the Rainy River detachment of the OPP were notified about the missing 22-year-old just before 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11.

The man’s family became concerned when he didn’t return home as expected that evening. The family contacted police, reporting the man’s last known whereabouts as being in the area of Sorting Gap Marina.

Local OPP detachment officers began the search with support from the Northwest Region’s emergency response team, US Customs and Border Protection marine patrol.  The OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit was also brought in to help with the search.

As a result of the search, police found the body of Brandon Ronmark, 22, of Fort Frances just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 12.

A post mortem exam was conducted at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Monday, Oct. 13.

The Fort Frances Crime Unit continues to investigate. More information will be released as it becomes available.e.
