Radon workshop aims to spread awareness about gas' risks

THUNDER BAY -- It's invisible, odourless, and according to the World Health Organization it is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

EcoSuperior and Health Canada on Thursday hosted a Radon workshop to teach people about the risks associated with this gas.

Radon is found in soil, water, and air, and can enter buildings through cracks and holes in the foundation.

Bob Wood is president of the Canadian Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists.  He spoke about the importance of radon testing in homes.

According to Public Health Ontario, about 850 people each year are diagnosed with lung cancer due to radon exposure.
