Labine named new North West LHIN board member, Levesque re-appointed

THUNDER BAY -- A new board member has been officially appointed to the North West LHIN, while another board member has been re-appointed.

THUNDER BAY -- A new board member has been officially appointed to the North West LHIN, while another board member has been re-appointed.

In a news release issued by the North West Local Health Integrated Network Tuesday, LHIN officials confirmed the appointment of Gilbert Labine to the Board of Directors. In April, Dan Levesque was re-appointed to the North West LHIN’s board of directors.

Both appointments are for three-year terms.

Labine, a resident of Thunder Bay, is a lawyer conducting a general practice in the fields of criminal, family, and civil law as a partner in the firm Atwood, Labine, Arnone, McCartney.

In the past, Labine has served as  president and director of William Creighton Youth Services, director with the Canadian Mental Health Association, and member of the Board of Directors of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

“The North West LHIN Board of Directors, in partnership with health service providers and other organizations, has made significant progress in transforming the health-care system, and I am honoured to serve the people of Northwestern Ontario as we make healthy, sustainable change,” Labine is quoted as saying in a LHIN-issued news release.

Meanwhile, Levesque is a resident of Greenstone who has served with the OPP for 31 years.

He previously served as chairman of the board for both Greenstone Victim Services and the Superior Greenstone Association for Community Living.

“I am pleased to continue to work alongside such a motivated group of Directors, as well as the dedicated staff and health service providers,” he said following the re-appointment.

“Championing the needs of the residents of Northwestern Ontario is at the core of planning as we reshape, strengthen, and sustain an integrated health care system that provides care in the right place, at the right time as close to home as possible.”
