Shuniah man nabbed for drunk driving

OPP news release (THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at approximately 11:37 pm, officers with the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a possible impaired driver in the Municipality of Shuniah.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at approximately 11:37 pm, officers with the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were advised of a possible impaired driver in the Municipality of Shuniah. 

An officer located a vehicle matching the same description on Cedar Bay Road in the Municipality of Shuniah and conducted a traffic stop.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected an odour of alcohol emitting from the drivers breath and the driver exhibited obvious signs of impairment.  Subsequently, the driver was found to be over the legal limit.

A 55-year-old Shuniah man was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of Alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

He is to appear in Provincial Court on June 2, 2015 to answer to the charges.
