LRCA issues flood outlook statement for City of Thunder Bay

A flood outlook statement has been issued for the City of Thunder Bay and several surrounding communities.

A flood outlook statement has been issued for the City of Thunder Bay and several surrounding communities.

The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority says with 25 to 30 millimetres of rain forecasted over the weekend, the majority on Sunday, low-lying areas in the city could face localized ponding and flooding.

The LRCA says as a result, the public should exercise caution around area waterway and keep an eye on any weather developments.

Other communities included in the flood outlook statement, issued on Friday afternoon, include the municipalities of Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah and the townships of O’Connor, Gillies, Conmee and Dorion.
