Stats Canada survey show most Thunder Bay residents satisfied with their lives

According to Statistics Canada, Thunder Bay residents are among the most happy in the country. In a survey released on Monday, people who live in the city on average rated their life satisfaction rate slightly more than 8.

According to Statistics Canada, Thunder Bay residents are among the most happy in the country.

In a survey released on Monday, people who live in the city on average rated their life satisfaction rate slightly more than 8.1 out of 10, the eighth highest figures of census metropolitan areas across Canada. That’s slightly higher than the Canadian average, that was just below 8.0.

About 43 per cent of respondents gave the city a nine or a 10 rating.

Only the Greater Sudbury Area ranked higher, at 45 per cent, while the Canadian average was about 38 per cent.

The news wasn’t all good.

Thunder Bay ranks 12th in Canada when the number of people who rate their life satisfaction as six or less, at about 14 per cent.

That’s about the Canadian average.

As a whole, Northwestern Ontarians rate their life satisfaction between 8.0 and 8.1.

The results were compiled between 2009 and 2013.
