OPP News Release

(GREENSTONE, ON) – When a physician prescribes medication for a patient, it is only intended for that person.  When prescriptions become unused or expired, they can end up in the hands of those they are not intended for.

When expired and unused prescription medication is left unattended, it can lead to prescription drug abuse. The Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Greenstone Community Drug Action Team (CDAT) are working together this year to fight against this public health and safety issue to provide residents an opportunity to dispose of old and unused prescription medications.
The Greenstone Prescription Drug Drop Off Day will be held on Saturday May 9, 2015 at the following location between 10 am - 3 pm:

Geraldton Rexall located at 305 Main Street in Geraldton, Ontario

Once the drugs are identified and recorded, they will be secured and disposed of according to normal OPP Policy.

The event provides a convenient opportunity for residents to safely and anonymously dispose of prescription medications.
