THUNDER BAY -- A South-side retirement home is now under a new owner after a $22.1 million sale.

The Isabella Retirement Residence on Isabella Street and Franklin Street was sold to Chartwell, which officially took ownership last week.

Chartwell spokesman Dan McIlhone said the 94-suite residence, on the site of former Isabella Public School, is a great investment for the company and the move will have little impact on staff and residents.

Former co-owner John Stephenson said selling the home was always the plan since it opened three years ago. It features a lounge, private dining room, sunroom and media room.

Locally, Chartwell also has Glacier Ridge and Chartwell Thunder Bay.
