Cracks in recently paved trail force city to close portion of Boulevard Lake walkway

Cracks in the asphalt surface have forced the city to close a portion of the Boulevard Lake trail on the southwest side of the lake. The closure is effective Tuesday.

Cracks in the asphalt surface have forced the city to close a portion of the Boulevard Lake trail on the southwest side of the lake.

The closure is effective Tuesday.

City officials say the trail was paved last fall and the consulting engineers who designed the project are in the midst of conducting an assessment.

“The trail will remain closed until repairs are complete. The city is making the southbound lane of Lyon Boulevard available for pedestrian and bike traffic to allow for continued use of the trail system around the lake; the southbound lane of Lyon Boulevard will therefore be closed to vehicular traffic between Arundel Street and the Pavilion parking lot,” director of engineering Kayla Dixon says in a release issued by the city on Tuesday.

Residents are being asked to use caution in the area.
