THUNDER BAY -- Ideally the union representing workers at Bombardier in Thunder Bay would like to see all cities in Ontario have their transit vehicles built here.

The local plant has been busy for the past few years building subway and streetcars for Toronto. It's also landed 14 light rail transit vehicles for Kitchener Waterloo with the possibility of seeing that order doubled.

On Tuesday morning the province announced up to $1 billion for a new transit system in Hamilton.

"Hopefully we can make them all in this Thunder Bay plant," Unifor Local 1075 president Dominic Pasqualino said.

But where that contract will end up has yet to be seen.
