THUNDER BAY – The founding dean of the Lakehead University law school is leaving his post.

Lakehead University officials confirmed Lee Stuesser is stepping down as the head of the Faculty of Law but would not provide the reason.

Stuesser was hired in 2012 to lead the law school, which officially welcomed its inaugural class of about 60 students in the fall of 2013.

A school official credited Stuesser for the school becoming a success and has broken new ground in academic legal training.

Lisa Philipps, who is taking a leave from her position at the Osgoode Hall Law School, has been named the interim replacement.
