TRAFFIC: Collision leads to drug, weapons and impaired charges against 26-year-old man

A traffic collision on Sunday on Highway 61 led to weapons, drug and impaired driving charges being laid against a Thunder Bay man.

Joshua Trotz, 26, was charged with operating a vehicle with over milligrams of alcohol in his blood, unauthorized possession of a weapon and cocaine possession.

Ontario Provincial police who arrived on scene at the collision between two vehicles just north of Neebing Avenue, in which it appears one driver struck the other from behind, said they detected the odor of alcohol emitting from one driver’s breath.

A further search led to the additional charges, which also included driving while under suspension, failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking, use of a an unauthorized plate and driving without insurance.

Trotz was held in custody pending a video court appearance and remanded into custody.

No injuries were reported.
