(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On October 2, 2015 during the evening hours, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a R.I.D.E check, (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere) on Highway 71 in the Municipality of Chapple.
Officers checked over 300 motor vehicles for Impaired Drivers, Highway Traffic Act and Liquor Licence Act infractions.
A total of nine young persons were charged under the Liquor Licence Act and a large quantity of alcohol seized. The OPP remind the public that possession of alcohol under the age of 19 years of is illegal, and subject to a fine and a seizure of the alcohol.
