All schools in the area were placed on immediate lockdown.  This included Beaver Brae Secondary School, Evergreen Public School, Valleyview Public School, Pope John Paul II School, Ecole Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys, St. Thomas Aquinas High School as well as the Kenora Catholic District School Board Office.

Around 1:15 pm, police located the suspect firearm in the area.  It was determined to be a pistol style pellet gun.  The lockdowns were lifted at all schools.

As a result of this investigation, a 17 year old male youth from Kenora has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code (CC) and Carrying a Concealed Weapon contrary to section 90 of the Criminal Code.

He will be in Kenora Court on October 27, 2015 to answer to the charges
