THUNDER BAY -- Northern Ontario's Liberal MPs will be meeting this week to elect a chair for the newly reformed Northern Liberal caucus.

Patty Hajdu is one of seven Liberals who won in Northern Ontario in last month's federal election and is expected to play a large role in the caucus. Other members will include Thunder Bay-Rainy River's Don Rusnak and Kenora MP and former Cabinet minister Bob Nault.

Hajdu said this first meeting will be highly informal, but adds there are obvious issues the group will want to discuss.

The Northern Liberal caucus has historically been a force in the region but was hurt in 2008 after all but one of its members were unseated.
