Traffic stop leads to impaired charge for driver on Highway 588

Thunder Bay OPP Media Release:

On Friday, November 27, 2015 at approximately 4:10 pm, an officer from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 588 in the Municipality of Oliver Paipoonge.

Police determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and transported her to detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Gorham Township woman was arrested and charged with Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code. 

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 26, 2016 to answer to the charge.

Also on Friday, November 27 at approximately 6:43 pm, officers were contacted by a concerned citizen and advised of a possible impaired driver in Gorham Township.

Officers were provided a description of the vehicle. Shortly after, an officer located the vehicle and driver in question.

Police determined the driver had been consuming alcohol and transported her to detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old Thunder Bay woman  was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 mgs of alcohol contrary to the Criminal Code.

She is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 5, 2016 to answer to the charges.
