Thunder Bay driver has vehicle impounded in Fort Frances after OPP breath test

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On February 4, 2016 at 12:51 pm, officers of the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint of an motor vehicle with a possible impaired driver on King’s Highway 11, east of Fort Frances.

Officers located the motor vehicle with in the Town of Fort Frances.

The driver, a 31-year-old Thunder Bay man,  was showing signs of impairment.

He was arrested and transported to OPP Detachment for breath tests. The motor vehicle was impounded for the mandatory seven days.

The driver was subsequently charged with,

•  impaired operation of a motor vehicle contrary to section 253(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.
• driving with more than 80 milligrams blood alcohol content contrary to section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.
• As well as several Highway Traffic Act infractions
