An agency that tracks the hiring scene in Thunder Bay says the climate for new employment looks modest for the summer season.
A survey by Manpower Canada found that 17 per cent of local businesses plan to increase staffing over the next three months, while 10 per cent anticipate cutbacks.
Another 70 per cent plan to maintain their current staffing levels.
Manpower officials say the results are a marked improvement over the previous quarter, and compared to this time last year in Thunder Bay.
