Group wins house lottery

By tbnewswatch.com
Brake Repairs! Front Ends! Mufflers! Shocks! Not just mufflers - MINUTE MUFFLER, 677 Memorial Avenue. Open Monday-Saturday. Email: tminutemuffler@shaw.caClick here for details.

For the first time in 24 years, a group of lucky winners will split the Fort William Rotary Club's House Lottery grand prize. The main ticket was purchased by a retired employee of Lakehead University, who now lives in British Columbia.

The four other winners went by the house to check it out Friday. All four are also LU employees who joked about turning the dream home into a frat house. Frank Sebesta said he was elated to hear the news because he's never won anything in his life.
The five plan to sell the house, which is value at about $345,000 and split the proceeds. Fort William Rotary House Lottery chair Bob Hookham said the 24th year of the lottery went extremely well, selling all 7,000 tickets ahead of schedule.

The Rotary club is already planning for next year's lottery. Hookham said they plan to do something special for the 25th year.

Why say that the money is leaving town when the article clearly states that 4 out of the 5 winners are employees of LU? Good for you guys on your win!

@Pawn....seriously? Seven thousand tickets at a $100 each. The house $300,000 to build. There's a ton of money staying here becuase of that draw. Who cares what the winners do? Congrats to you five! The Rotarians have done a ton to keep money going to good causes here in Thunder Bay.
