Thunder Bay union leaders and others gathered Tuesday to discuss the impact the recession has had on communities, families and businesses.
The public forum hosted by OPSEU was called Let's Talk Solutions. The meeting was held at the Da Vinci Centre, and attracted a small crowd of about 10 concerned residents.
Participants and oragnizers of the event all stressed that the community had to come together and co-operate to mitigate the damage of the recession.
The group talked about the economic challenges faced on a day-to-day basis, and what resources we have to fight back. Event moderator Jim Foulds said everyone in Thunder Bay has been affected by the recession in one way or another.
OPSEU officials say they will take what was learned from the gathering, including recommendations, from the gathering and bring them to the higher levels of government.
Similar talks were held in cities across the province Monday and Tuesday.
