It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our mother, Anna Mazurek, on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the age of 92.
Anna was born on April 2, 1932, in Buk, Ukraine to Jan and Maria Staruch. She was a longtime parishioner of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Transfiguration and a member of the U.C.W.L. Family was of the upmost importance to Anna, and she poured all her love into her children and grandchildren. During Anna’s younger years she enjoyed gardening and mushroom and blueberry picking. She also found great pleasure in baking, along with making perogies and cabbage rolls, of which her grandchildren could never get their fill of.
Anna is survived by her daughter Patricia (Ajax, ON), son Bogdan, daughter-in-law Debra and grandchildren Nicholas and Avery. She is also survived by four sisters, one brother and numerous other relatives in Canada and Europe.
Anna was predeceased by her husband William (2003) and daughter Kathy (2020), along with two sisters Rozalia and Maria.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Addison, Dr. Migay, Dr. Feldstein and the nurses of 4N St. Joseph’s Hospital, who provided compassionate care for our mother.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Transfiguration, 629 McIntosh Street, celebrated by Rev. Andriy Stetsyk. Interment will take place at the Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, with a celebration of life luncheon at the Slovak Legion to follow. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time at the church. Should friends desire, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Blake Funeral Chapel, 200 May Street S.
