Ms. Bertha May Nylund, age 79 years, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
Bertha was born in Quorn, Ontario on May 27, 1944 to Veikko and Sylvia (nee Sarri) Nylund. She worked various jobs throughout her life including as a waitress in her younger years, and later in Home Care and as a Counsellor with the Children's Aid Society. Bertha loved being outside whether it be walking, biking or swimming. She enjoyed travelling and made many trips all over the world. Spending time visiting family and friends was a main focus and always something she looked forward too. Bertha was a strong Christian woman and her faith was important to her. She spent many years as a Lay Missionary. Bertha will be forever remembered and treasured by all.
Bertha will be deeply missed by her daughters, Mary Jane Sinclair and Laura Andrews, and her son, Mark Lyons as well as several grandchildren and her beloved sister, Viola Sokolan. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family also survive.
She was predeceased by her two sons, Daniel and Lyndon Andrews; her parents, Veikko and Sylvia Nylund and her sisters, Eileen (George) Dustin and Dorothy (Doug) Lyons as well as her brother-in-law Mervin Sokolan and various other relatives.
Funeral Services for the late Bertha Nylund will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service time.
