Mary attended St. James Public School and Port Arthur Collegiate Institute. During the Second World War, Mary served with the R.C.A.F. Women's Division. After her discharge, Mary attended and graduated from King's Business College.

Her early working career was with Ontario Hydro. She later worked for the Ministry Of Community and Social Services. Mary retired in 1980 and was then able to give more time to her interest in genealogy.

She was very active in the local Genealogical Society. Mary enjoyed working needlepoint pictures and greeting cards.  She was a very active member of the A.C.W. of the Anglican Church. In 1993, Mary moved with her brother Peter to Tewkesbury, England and was active as a welcomer to the many visitors to the historic Tewkesbury Abbey.

In 2004, they moved back to Thunder Bay and Mary was again active in the A.C.W. of St. Michael's Church and genealogy. Mary passed away on Oct. 28 and leaves her sister Bernie Rogers of Camrose, Alberta, three brothers;  Peter of Thunder Bay, David (Pat) of Toronto and Patrick (Marloe) of Pickering, Ontario.  Mary will be greatly missed by all her niece and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and by brothers John (1996) and Michael (2010).

Funeral services will be  held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010 when family and friends will gather at  St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church for services at 2 p.m. with Rev. Peter Smyth presiding.  All services will be complete in the church with interment to take place in St. Michael's Garden at a later date.
