Mr. James Daniel MacMillan, age 76 years, passed away peacefully in hospital with family by his side on Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010.

James was born in Fort William on April 3, 1934 to Wilfred and Marguerite MacMillan. He worked for the Canadian Government as an employment counsellor for 33 years retiring in 1988.

He enjoyed bird watching and identifying them at his favourite places in Oak Hammock Marsh and Fort Whyte Centre in Winnipeg. James also bowled regularly on Friday mornings with his senior “MacMillan Team” and he also liked to keep a crossword puzzle book close by at all times to keep his mind sharp.

Survived by his children Mark, Karen (Lionel) Bruins, Cathy (Paul) Cairns, Randy, Rob and Lisa Owens; grandchildren Leslie, Matthew, Karen, Heather and Joshua; great-grandson Noah; sisters Juanita Martin, Joan Richards and Jacquie Bruce as well as nieces and nephews also survive.

Predeceased by his wife Marion in 1995.

Funeral services for the late Mr. James MacMillan will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. in the Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma with Fr. Luigi Filippini of St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment to follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be held one hour prior to service time.

If friends so desire, donations in memory of James to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
