It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Kathleen Otway on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010 at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by her side.

Kathleen was born on Aug. 17, 1943 in Port Arthur to William and Irene Rees. She was educated locally and in her early years she worked in the pharmacy at the General Hospital until she married Fred in 1964.

She then became a mother and chose to stay at home to raise her family. Kathy was always the one you could count on for anything. Her family meant the world to her. She was a long time resident of Vickers Heights and enjoyed the many years she spent there. She went back to work after losing her husband in 1998.

Kathy made many new friends along the way and cherished them all. The last few months have been very difficult for her as she suffered greatly due to complications with a knee replacement.

Kathy is survived by son Ted; sisters Elizabeth Speirs, Evelyn Davis and Carol Rees; brothers George Rees, Ken Rees and Jim Rees as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her son Fred Jr., husband Fred Sr., parents William and Irene Rees and in-laws Ted and Emily Otway.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010 at 1:30 p.m. with family and friends gathering at the main office of Mountainview Cemetery. Donations in memory of Kathy to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Mental Health Association or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James in care of arrangements.

Think of Me

Think of me, think of me fondly when we've said good-bye.
Remember me,once in a while
promise me you'll try.
Think of all the things we have seen and shared.
Don't think of things, which might have been...
If you ever have a moment, spare a thought for me.
