Euphemia Larsen

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Euphemia (Pheme) Larsen at Pioneer Ridge, Dec. 4, 2010. 

Euphemia was born to John and Jessie Hyatt on Sept. 29, 1921, raised and lived in the rural Fort Frances area until 1959 when she moved briefly to Kenora, than to Geraldton where she made her home until moving to Thunder Bay in 1998. 

Wife of Otto Larsen, her main interests in life were caring for her family and home. 

Euphemia loved to cook and grandchildren will fondly remember the many times they spent with her in the kitchen cracking eggs into the big bowl of pancake batter at breakfast time. Euphemia was predeceased by her parents, sisters Irene, Edith and Lucy, and  brothers Robert, Wilbur and Garnet, son-in-law James Barr, grandson Russ King and great grandson Darian Berg. 

She is survived by her sisters Maddy Gilbertson, Georgie Halverson, Nellie (Earl) Primrose, brother Bruce, her husband Otto, daughters Greta Barr, Gina Larsen and sons Howard (Arleen) Berg and John (Roberta) Berg, grandchildren Tony, Leslie, Dianna, Terry, Nelson, Aaron, Shawna, Lianne, Chris, Kevin, Kathy, Shellie, and Cindi and great grandchildren Nick, Jarred, Ben, Billie, Adrian, Dawson, Aaric, Nyah, Ella and Christopher.  

Grateful thanks to the staff of Plaza 1, Pioneer Ridge for their dedication, kindness and wonderful care.  A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, December 11, 2010, at Sargent & Son Funeral Home, 21 North Court Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario with Pastor Arleen Berg of Hilldale Lutheran Church presiding. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at a later date. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay.
