With great sadness we announce the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Ethel Seabrook. Ethel passed away at her home on Monday, Feb. 7, 2011.

She was born Sept. 18, 1920, in Fort William to Andrew and Bessie Harrison, and lived most of her 90 years in Westfort. She was a graduate of Fort William Collegiate and Selkirk Vocational Institute Special Commercial. In the '50s Ethel worked at Can Car, then started at Great Lakes Paper in 1960.

She was soon promoted to Executive Secretary, a position she held until her retirement in 1985. Ethel enjoyed literature, history, CBC Radio, doing the daily crossword, and a good cup of tea. She was a life-long member of First Church United and would proudly tell you that her name was on the Cradle Roll of First Church.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents, and by her brother-in-law George Mack. She is survived by her daughter Rosalind Maki (Vern), her son Rod Seabrook (Mary Anne), and her sister Mary Mack, grandchildren Johanna Maki (Adam), Jennifer Creed (Brad) and Chris Maki (Jodie), Jackie Seabrook, Matthew Seabrook (Jamie), Andrew Seabrook (Jessica) and Adrienne Seabrook (Ryan), and thirteen great grandchildren Jacob, Elisha, Joshua, Faith, Jessie, Ty, Ryan, Eva, Evan, Olivia, Julia, Skye and Cole.  A niece, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Cremation has taken place and funeral services will be held on Friday Feb. 11, 2011 at 1 p.m. in Broadway United Church with Rev. Ken Moffat officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, should friends so desire, donations in lieu of flowers can be made in the name of Ethel Seabrook to the Northern Cardiac Fund at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, the City of Thunder Bay Tree Stewardship Program, or to the charity of one’s choice.

A tree will be planted in memory of Ethel Seabrook   in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012.
