William Hunter Dunlop Wilson passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at his residence in Roseview Manor at the age of 100 years.

Dunlop was predeceased by spouse Audrey Florence (Aubry) on May 26, 1996, sister Eileen Wilson on Jan. 19, 2004, brother Murray Wilson in 1944 and grandson Daryll Wilson on May 5, 2002.

Born in Port Arthur to parents William Hunter Wilson and Margaret Wilson (Gray), he worked for Ontario Department of Highways as a mechanic for 21 years before his retirement in 1976.

Dunlop was very active all of his life and has enjoyed a variety of interests including cutting his own firewood, travelling, reading, taking courses at Lakehead University for interest and being a member of the Toastmasters.  He loved to dance, studied Tai Chi, and was a volunteer for the Salvation Army, all well into his 90s.

Blessed with a long life and good health until the last year of his life, he appreciated all good things that came to him, no matter how small.  He was a true gentleman, respected by all who knew him and loved by his family and friends.

Dunlop is survived by his children Ronald Wilson (Jean), Margaret Maclean (Don), Murray Wilson (Lynne), Robert Wilson (Carolyn), Darlene Seaver (Don) , Luann Sainsbury (Ron) and Sheila Arding (Brad); his grandchildren, Mark Wilson (Monica), Patricia Hargreaves (Andrew), Patrick Wilson (Tracy), Keri Willan (Bill), Jeff Wilson (Jackie), Apryl Krienke, Lee Krienke, Laura Wilson, Erin Wilson, Drew Sainsbury and great grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, Haiden, Hannah, Ally, Kayla, Logan, Kira, Sierra and Miiah.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Dunlop Wilson will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the Salvation Army Community Church (2621 East Victoria Avenue) with Major Rosena Halvorsen officiating.

Interment will take place in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma in care of arrangements.

If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.
