Brent Donald MacKay

Posted

We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Brent on Thursday March 10, 2011 at the age of 43.

He was born and lived his entire life in the Northwood area. Brent was happiest when making his children and those around him laugh. Growing up, his summers were spent on Lake Lenore and in later years he enjoyed life at the camp with family and friends, as well as cabin life on Rainy Lake.

He loved to spend many relaxing hours on the lake catching and releasing fish. Other interests were model trains and building and flying remote control airplanes.

Brent also loved and enjoyed anything mechanical and had done extensive renovations on the family home with love and hard work. Although he had studied mechanical engineering, he chose to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and uncle by joining C.P. Rail as switchman, then to engineer.

Brent will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of fifteen years, Cheri, son Jordan, daughters Karysa and Shawna, parents Don and Alice MacKay, brother David (Kristen), sister Lynn (Sean), mother-in-law Evelyn Matthews, brothers-in-law Jeff (Peggy) and Kendall (Sylvie) and aunt Ann Frastak, aunt Marilyn and uncle Bob Colosimo from Whitby and uncle Ken and aunt Bev from B.C. Remembering his humour and playful teasing are nieces and nephews Taylor, Connor, Jason, Katie, Chanelle, Eric and Lily. Sadly missed by best friends Ian Couch and Derek Craig who were always there for him.

Brent was predeseased by grandparents Bud and Jean MacKay, Helen and Peter Frastak and father-in-law Larry Mathews. Brent believed and participated in organ donation. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 when family and friends will gather for Mass at St. Peter’s Church at 11 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Terry Sawchuk. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Blake Funeral Chapel.

Brent, you now live in our hearts. Time moves on but you will be remembered forever. Child of ours, thank you for the gifts of love honour, support and joy given throughout your entire life and for the special gift of grandchildren.

-Love Mom and Dad

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made towards the children’s education.

A tree will be planted in memory of Brent MacKay in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012.
