Mr. George Nicolas Wanzuk Jr., age 68 years, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2011 after a brief illness at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with family by his side.

George was born to George and Anne Wanzuk on May 1, 1942 in Fort William, Ontario, the third eldest of 11 children. He lived in Slate River and attended Slate River School. After completion of school he decided to leave his nest to pursue work in construction and mining. George met the love of his life, Diane Rioux in 1967. They were married in 1968 at that time they started their family.

George took great pride in his children and grandchildren. They were the light of his life. George loved his hockey games, Toronto Maple Leafs, stock car racing and hanging out with his brothers. He was a man of many talents and loved life to the fullest.

George is survived by his loving wife Diane; three boys: Bradly (Diane), Brian (Lisa) and Bobby (Michelle); grandchildren: Kaile, Allisyn, Mitchell, Jazzlyn and Payton; step grandchildren: Casey, Coral, Jaelyn and Troy; sisters and brothers: Mary Ann (Paul) Peltola, Deanna Zulianello, Barb (Winston) Rahmer, Nick (Judy), Pauline (Aldo) Bisignano, Judy (John) Biley, Billy, Mike (Pat), Paul (Mary) and Dennis. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

He was predeceased by his nephew Jason Biley; parents George and Anne; in-laws: Donat and Margaret Rioux; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Susan Rioux.

Funeral Services for the Mr. George N. Wanzuk Jr. will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 in the Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James with Fr. Terry Sawchuk officiating. If friends so desire donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
