On April 2, 2011 the Lord called home one of his flock.

Stan Nieckarz passed away peacefully in his sleep at Grandview Lodge.  His family was blessed to have spent extensive time with him before he left us. Stan was born Nov. 12, 1929 in Fort William.

He grew up in the East End and after his marriage to Agnes in 1951, made a home with his family on Ogden Street, then Valour Place, and in June of 2002, Grandview Lodge became his final home.

Stan was employed at an early age, first at Mahon Electric, then at Abitibi as a cook in the sulphite Mission mill. He retired due to his affliction with Parkinson's at the age of 58. Our father was a member of the Polish Legion and an active member in the community coaching little league baseball to national championships.

He was an active member of the Thunder Bay Parkinson Support group since its inception in 1989, enjoying many monthly meetings and get-togethers making many new friends along his journey with Parkinson's.

Stan is survived by his children Chris (Walter), Cathy, Carol, and Warren.  Grandchildren Jeremiah (Carla), Shannon, Mark and Michael (Nikki) and brother Ed (Stella), sisters-in-law Marie, Josie (Tony), JoAnn, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their extended families.

He was also survived by his extended family at Grandview, who we will be indebted to for the loving care they provided Stan for almost nine years. Stan was pre-deceased by his wife Agnes (2003), his mother and father John (Gigi) and Mary (Granny) Kowalski, and brother-in-law Bernie.

Services to celebrate Stan's life will be held at Blake's Funeral Chapel celebrated by Rev. Rey Ronquillo on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.

Visitation will commence at 6:30 p.m. with the service following at 7:30 p.m. Donations in respect of Stan's life can be made to the Thunder Bay Parkinson's Support Group.

A Husband, A Father, A Brother, A Friend

A Husband, a Father, Brother and Grandpa too

This is the legacy we have from you

You taught us to love and to be polite

You gave us strength and you gave us might

A stronger person would be hard to find

And in your heart, you were always kind

You fought for us all in one way or another

Not just as a husband, brother or just as a father

For all of us you gave your best

Now the time has come for you to rest

So go in peace, you've earned your sleep

Your love in our hearts, we will eternally keep

Until we meet again ...

A tree will be planted in memory of Stanley Nieckraz in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012.
