Maxine Evelyn Massaro

Mrs.Maxine Evelyn Massaro (Vezina) passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at the age of 75, held in her family’s arms. 

Maxine was born on Oct. 9, 1935 to Isabel and Octave Vezina.  She was the youngest of nine siblings.  She met and fell in love with the love of her life John (Bunny) Massaro. They were together 60 years and had two children, John and Cheryl. 

Maxine worked at numerous jobs including Crooks Pharmacy. She was the Treasurer/Secretary at the Canadian Lakehead Exhibition for 20 years. She left the CLE to work alongside Bunny as they grew the family business Thunder Bay Broom and Chemical Ltd. 

After retiring from the family business Maxine enjoyed travelling to Las Vegas, fishing and camping at Oliver Lake. 

Recently they started travelling in their new motor home with the RV Group Sam’s Sleeping Giant.  Maxine is survived by her husband Bunny; children Cheryl Rossetti (Dan Shott) and John Jr. (Cindy Hill); grandchildren Jessica Rossetti (Jay Matyczuk), Brent Massaro (Lisa Daniels) and Tyler Massaro; her spoiled puppies Tyson and Mocha; brothers Melton Vezina (Fran), Ozzie Vezina (Retta); sister Hilda Castonguay; in-laws Frank Massaro (Alice-Jean), Sandy Massaro (Elizabeth), Bev Massaro and Victoria Vezina; as well as numerous other relatives. 

She was predeceased by her son-in-law Frank Rossetti; her parents Isabel and Octave Vezina; siblings Dave, Ken and Odie Vezina, Margaret Calder and June Guarasci and mother-in-law Theresa Massaro.  

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 when family and friends will gather for Funeral Mass at 12:10 p.m., at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery. If friends desire, donations can be made to the Huntington Society, St. Joseph’s Hospice or the Kidney Foundation.

 

A tree will be planted in memory of Maxine Massaro in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. 

Annual dedication service Sunday, June 10, 2012.
