Mr. James Joseph Blanch, age 90 years, a resident of Pioneer Ridge passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2011.

As a young man James served in the Royal Canadian Navy during the Second World War. He enjoyed coaching minor hockey and little league baseball and watching all types of sports. He took great joy in maintaining his vegetable garden.

James was employed at the Marathon Mill for 38 years as a Millwright. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church for 25 years.

 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Cecile, children Judy (Barry) Smith, Terry (Pamela) Blanch, Peggy (Jim) Jensen, Kevin Blanch, Joyce (Dwayne) Theriault, Debbie Blanch, step-children: Carolyn (Dave) Dunstan, Donna (Don) McGonigal, Michael (Nancy) Oster, Janet (Bryan) Chiupka, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother; Rev. Michael Blanch, sisters Margaret Blanch and Frances Heffernen.

 

He was predeceased by his son Robert Blanch, step-daughter Elaine Clarke, brothers; George, Leo, Patrick, William, John, and Joseph, sisters Bernadette and Anne Gertrude.

 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk.

The interment will take place at a later date in the Marathon Cemetery.
