Mrs. Clorinda Benincasa, age 101 years, a resident of Bethammi Nursing Home, passed away peacefully at her residence with her family by her side on Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011. <br />
<br />
Clorinda was born at Dipignano, Cosenza, Italy on March 12, 1910 to Giovanni and Giuseppina Micieli. She was the second youngest of 18 children. After the death of her father when she was 15, her large family was left in the care of her mother and older siblings. <br />
<br />
On May 6, 1937 Clorinda married Santo Benincasa. In 1957, she along with her son Carlo came to Canada, residing in Port Arthur. She was a member of St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking. Clorinda's home, family, and grandchildren were very dear to her. <br />
<br />
She will be lovingly remembered by her son Carlo (Angie), grandson JohnPaul, granddaughter Corinne (Rob) Scarfo, great grandchild Matteo Scarfo, brother-in-law Ettero (Gina) Benincasa as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson David Sandy Benincasa in 1978, her husband Santo in 1999 as well as by numerous, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews in Canada and abroad. <br />
<br />
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011 leaving the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street at 1:30 p.m. to St. Anthony's R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 2 p.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini. <br />

The entombment will take place at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Visitation for friends will be held on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 7 p.m. <br />
<br />
In lieu of flowers memorials to the St. Joseph's Foundation-Bethammi Nursing Home would be appreciated. <br />
