<p> Mrs. Brenda Mary Cross, age 69 years, passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2011 after a lengthy illness.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Brenda was born in Port Arthur on May 15, 1942 and was a lifetime resident. She spent a number of years teaching elementary school before taking time off to raise her son James.&nbsp;Brenda returned to work at Confederation College for a short time before taking a position with the OSAP office where she worked for&nbsp;eight years until her retirement in 1996.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Silver Islet was a big part of Brenda&rsquo;s life.&nbsp;She was a member of the Campers Association and had a passion for researching the history of both Silver Islet and her family.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 39, years Jim, son James (Becky) Cross, grandchildren Emily and Julia, sisters Jane (Tom) Porett and Susan (Ed) Miller as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.&nbsp; She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Jack and Norman.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. at Trinity United Church with Rev. Randy Boyd presiding.&nbsp; A private inurnment will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.&nbsp; In lieu of flowers memorials to the Canadian Cancer Society, the T.B.R.H.S. Foundation or the charity of one&rsquo;s choice would be appreciated.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Arrangements are in care of the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Directors, 21 N.
