<p> It is with heavy hearts the family of Angela Scaffeo announce her passing at the age of 79 on January 22, 2012 with her family by her side.<br /> <br /> She was born in Acciaroli, Italy on Sept. 29, 1932. In 1953, she married and moved to Thunder Bay to be with the love of her life, Esterino Scaffeo.<br /> <br /> They were married for 48 years and together they raised their children.<br /> <br /> Angela was an amazing woman who devoted her life to taking care of her family and home.<br /> <br /> She was employed at Grandview Lodge for 15 years where she made many lifelong friends. She enjoyed cooking for her family, gardening, coffee dates with her friends, playing cards, going to the church to play Bingo, going to the casino with her friends, and spending time with her home companions Angel and Lacey.<br /> <br /> Her greatest passions were going mushroom picking, blueberry picking, and knitting.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She was a member of the Principe di Piemonte Ladies Society and St. Dominic&rsquo;s Ladies Auxiliary. She spent many hours volunteering at the Da Vinci Centre making gnocchi and crostole.<br /> <br /> Angela will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children John (Susan), Anna (Cosmo) Carello, Lucy (Pasquale) Izzo, Linda Scaffeo, daughter-in-law Tita and step daughter Elena (Giulio) Squillaro in Italy.<br /> <br /> Also survived is Nonna&rsquo;s pride and joy her grandchildren Nikki, Andrea, Alex, Patrick, Christian, Andrew, Maria, Teresa (Cosimo), Angela (Joseph), Sarah, Sandra (Joe), Sue (Tom), Steven (Rosanna), Anthony (Carla) and many great grandchildren here and in Italy.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She was predeceased by her beloved husband Esterino, step-son Antonio, parents Teresa and Giovanni, sister in-law Caterina Scaffeo, niece Pirkko Scaffeo and numerous relatives in Italy.<br /> <br /> Funeral Services for the late Angela Scaffeo will be held on Jan. 27, 2012 at 10 a.m at St. Dominic&rsquo;s R.C. Church. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum, St. Andrew&rsquo;s Catholic Cemetery.<br /> <br /> Visitation will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m on Thursday Jan. 26, 2012 with Vigil prayers offered at 8 p.m.<br /> <br /> As expressions of sympathy, the family would appreciate donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation-Northern Cancer Fund.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The funeral arrangements are in care of the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Directors, 21 N.
