<p> Mrs. Gwendolyn Porter, age 87 years, a long-time resident of Waverley Park Towers, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph&rsquo;s Hospice on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Gwen was born in Fort William on March 28, 1924 to Thomas and May Jones.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She graduated from Fort William Collegiate and then moved to Toronto.&nbsp; In 1947, she married Bill Porter, also from Fort William, and together they raised three daughters.&nbsp;&nbsp; They spent many happy summers at Silver Islet with family and friends.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In 1985, Gwen and Bill moved back to Thunder Bay.&nbsp; Gwen was a dedicated member of St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Barbara (Phil) Lesperance of Thornhill, Ontario, Joan (Bill) Cookson of Toronto and Betty (Tim) Servais, grandchildren: Marc Lesperance, Ryan and Alex Cookson and Jason (Erica) Servais, Aja and Robbie Servais; great grandchildren Aaron and Zachary Servais; sisters Helen McConnell and Margaret (Gord) Stinson as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She was predeceased by her husband Bill, brothers Tom and Jim Jones and sister Irma McCann.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> A memorial service will be held on Monday,&nbsp;Jan. 30, 2012 at 2 p.m. in St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Pearl Street, with Rev. Mary Lucas presiding.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers memorials to St. John&rsquo;s Anglican Church or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The funeral arrangements are in care of the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Directors, 21 N.
