Domenico Di Eugenio’s gentle passing took place on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Center with his loving family at his side.

Domenico was born in Colledara, Teramo, Italy on April 11, 1929 to Pasquale and Luigina Di Eugenio.

As a young man in Italy he was in charge of the furnace in a tile and brickmaking company, a job he thought he would always do. In 1955 he emigrated to Port Arthur to join his fiancee, Anna De Antoniis, and they were married on May 14, 1955.

Domenico’s working career in Canada started in construction before he became foreman of a car wash on Memorial Avenue.

He was very proud of the fact that this job allowed him to provide employment opportunities for members of the Italian community when jobs were scarce. Following that, he took employment with the City of Thunder Bay Homes For the Aged, first working at Dawson Court as an orderly, then as a therapeutic recreationist, retiring at Grandview Lodge.

Domenico was a member of the Gran Sasso

Club, Italian Cultural Society of Port Arthur, St. Anthony’s R.C. Church Seniors' Club and Corpus Christi R.C. Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. Family and friends came first and foremost in his life and the gatherings with the ones he loved most were

times he greatly looked forward to as he was able to share his wonderful stories, play the organetto and play bocce. Domenico was a very social man, enjoyed listening to his favourite Italian music and never stopped wanting to learn.

He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of 56 years Anna, daughters Susan (Bob), Loretta, grandchildren: Meghan (Dylan), Jacob, Christopher and Michael, brother Ercole as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was predeceased by his daughter Iva, his parents and six brothers.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 11 a.m. celebrated by Rev.

Richard Kowalchuk with Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. concelebrating. The interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with prayers at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation Northern Cancer Fund would be appreciated.

Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
