<p> Mr. Ettore Benincasa, age 84 years, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph&#39;s Care Group on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Ettore was born in Paterno Calabro, Italy on March 9, 1927 to Luigi and Maria Benincasa.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In 1952 he married Gina Vigliatore.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> He emigrated to Port Arthur in 1954 with hopes of a new life for his family.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Ettore worked with the City of Thunder Bay, retiring after 33 years of service.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> He was a member of the Da Vinci Centre and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and his walks at Intercity Mall.&nbsp; Ettore was happiest spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a man who truly loved people and always had a smile on his face.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Gina, son Louie, daughter Anna (David) Axent, grandchildren: Sara (Jordan Ondriska) Benincasa, Amanda (Justin) Traverse, Andrew Benincasa, Michelle (Chris Tysoski) Axent and Jessica Axent; great granddaughter Isabella Ondriska as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.&nbsp; He was predeceased by his parents,&nbsp;four brothers and&nbsp;five sisters.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2012 leaving the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street at 9:30 a.m. to St. Anthony&#39;s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Maurizio Maifredi c.s.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.&nbsp; Visitation for friends will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Chapel where the Vigil Service will begin at 6 p.m.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> In lieu of flowers memorials to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Webster, Dr. Chan, the nurses and staff at St. Joseph&#39;s Hospice for their care and compassion and for creating such a supportive environment for all of the patients and their families.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com" target="_blank">www.sargentandson.com</a>.<br /> &nbsp;</p>
