<p> Mrs. Catherine Duff Podd age 96 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the St. Joseph&#39;s Hospice.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Catherine was born in Motherwell, Scotland and immigrated to Canada as a young girl in 1927.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> After completing her schooling she married Alfred William Podd in 1937 &amp; together they raised three children. The family became members of St. Paul&#39;s United Church and Catherine remained so until her passing.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> She was most proud of her &quot;Life Membership from St. Paul&#39;s UCW and past Presidency,&quot; as well as her many years of volunteer service.<br /> <br /> Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her son James (Elaine) Podd,&nbsp;seven grandchildren&nbsp;and 11 great-grandchildren,&nbsp;three great-great grandchildren, nieces&nbsp;and nephews.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Predeceased by husband Alfred &quot;Sonny,&quot; son Ian, daughter Vicky, sisters Mae (Bill) Smith, &amp; Gretta (Rocky) Gibson, brother David Adamson, parents James&nbsp;and Marion Adamson.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> According to Catherine&#39;s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, officiated by Rev. Hugh MacDonald.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> Private interment will take place at a later date.&nbsp;<br /> <br /> As expressions of sympathy donations may be made in Catherine&#39;s memory to St. Joseph&#39;s Foundation-Hospice Unit or a charity of choice.&nbsp; On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.<br /> <br /> <em>C5.8 &quot;To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord!&quot;</em><br /> &nbsp;</p>
