May Constance Richmond

<p> It is with great sadness that the family of May Constance Richmond announce her passing on July 19, 2012. May was born Sept. 22, 1920 to Edward and Constance Higgins of Richmond, England.<br /> <br /> She spent the majority of her early years on Raleigh Road, Richmond, and later moving to Townshend Road where she attended school and became a member of the St. Paul&rsquo;s Baptist Church.<br /> <br /> May excelled in running and had many medals to her credit and she was a &quot;General Scout&quot; and became a member of the Girls Life Brigade during the war time years. She met her future husband Gordon during the war and in 1946 she left her home and travelled to Canada to become his bride.<br /> <br /> Gordie and May had over 50 years together, raising their family on lower Tupper Street in Port Arthur. May was an active member of First Baptist Church until she was no longer able to attend services due to her declining health. She was employed for many years at S.S. Kresege Store and in her later years joined the Ontario Government in the accounting dept. at LPH Hospital until her retirement in 1978.<br /> <br /> May&#39;s past time was spent with the girls, Marg, Pam. Bettys (2) and Ilene having special dinners and outing to the US shopping. Her<br /> favorite times were visiting with her brother John Higgins and his wife Ruby( from Richmond, England). May is survived by her loving brother John (Ruby), sons Brian and Danny (Joanne) her grandson Corby (Lindsay) and her two great grandsons Grayson and Cohen. May was predeceased by her Father Edward in 1935, Mother Connie in 1986, and Husband Gordon in 1988.<br /> <br /> Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Lloyd Ivany presiding.<br /> <br /> Visitation will be for 1 hour prior to service time.<br /> <br /> The interment service will take place in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay or a charity of your choice.<br /> <br /> Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com" target="_blank">www.sargentandson.com</a>.<br /> &nbsp;</p>
