Mrs. Anna Sebesta (Nemec) age 85 passed away peacefully at Pioneer Ridge on August 17th, 2012 with family at her side. <br />
<br />
Anna was born in Letnicie, Slovakia on January 29th, 1927.<br />
<br />
She immigrated to Canada arriving with two small children in January of 1949 to join her husband who had left to prepare a better life for his family.<br />
<br />
They had eight children – seven sons and a daughter.<br />
<br />
She was primarily a homemaker looking after her children, and later in life, her grandchildren. Anna did work for short periods of time at St. Joseph Hospital, Doug and Jerry’s Restaurant and Robin’s Donuts. She and Jan owned and operated a small business – Pat’s Confectionary at the corner of Machar and Cornwall – where she plied her cooking trade. <br />
<br />
Anna was passionate about gardening and spent countless hours tending to her plants. She loved to show her garden to anyone. She also loved to pick blueberries and wild strawberries. Anna is survived by her children: Paul (Lois), John, Eve (Ken Johnson), Frank (Nancy), Peter (Jill), Tony (Dawn) Michael, and Rob (Nathalie): 15 Grandchildren; Pamela (Peter Wilke), Paul Jr. (Melanie), Mark (Christine); John Jr., Michell; Ken (Laura), Kris (Kim) Johnson; Ian (Christine), Danielle (Chris Neale); Paula, Alexander; Jason (Jamie), Rachael; Nicholis; Tiana; and 20 great grandchildren. <br />
<br />
Also surviving are nephew Stan Zolna and niece Barbara Zolna-Daykin of Victoria. Numerous relatives also survive in Slovakia. Anna was predeceased by her parents in Slovakia, her husband Jan (John) in 2008 and all her siblings in Slovakia. <br />
<br />
Family and friends will gather at Corpus Christi Church on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012 for the Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Richard Kowalchuk. <br />
<br />
Visitation will take place at the Sargent and Son Funeral Home, 21 N Court Street from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22. <br />
<br />
