It is with deep sadness that Alan Laine and family along with the Cava family announce the passing of our beloved mother, nanny and sister, Sara Mary Laine, at 12:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with her loving family by her side.

Sara lived at McKellar Place where she loved spending her days with the other residents and staff playing bingo and listening to the musicians. Throughout her life Sara always worked hard to ensure that her family was taken care of.

At a young age she stared working as a Bell Telephone Operator, then at St. James Stereo before working at Eaton’s from where she retired in 1992.

When she wasn’t working outside the home her passions were spending time with her family and friends, traveling to Mesa, dancing to 50s music with her beloved husband Bill, making homemade Finnish and Italian meals for her son and pride and joy Alan, and playing cards and watching Wheel of Fortune with her two angels, granddaughters Erin and Kyla.

Although her family and many dear friends will feel the loss of a wonderful lady we are comforted to know that Sara will now be joining the love of her life William Laine after his passing 9-and-a-half years ago.

She will be lovingly remembered by her son Alan (Colleen), granddaughters Erin (Dave Sisko) and Kyla (Dave Guarasci), her brothers Jim (Joyce) Cava and Albert (Sylvia) Cava as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Laine in July of 2003, her parents Virginia and Luigi Cava, in-laws Elsa and Wilho Laine, sister Mary Nigro, brother-in-law Louis Nigro, brother Frank Cava and sister-in-law Moira Thurier.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec.15, 2012 when family and friends will gather in Corpus Christi R.C. Richard Kowalchuk. The inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Andrew’s Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be held on Friday, Dec. 14 beginning at 5 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, where the Vigil Service will begin at 6 p.m. As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Salvation Army would be appreciated.

Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
