It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Lillian Wright announces her peaceful passing at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

Helen was born in Fort William, Ont., on Sept. 26, 1933. She attended local schools and worked for the Lakehead District School Board as part of the office staff at Westgate and Churchill High Schools and as an assistant purchaser at the Jim McCuaig Education Centre before retiring in 1994.

Helen and her husband Gordon camped for many years at Weikwabinonaw Lake. For 20 years, they ran a ceramic business out of their home that was a social and creative gathering place.

Helen enjoyed needlework and knitting (including hundreds of pairs of mitts for the Red Cross). She was an awesome baker who shared her bounty of cookies, muffins and loaves with friends and family.

Recently she enjoyed her weekend get-aways to Duluth with Betty and Gerry. Helen was a thoughtful and generous soul who sympathized with the circumstances of others and made the best of any situation.

Helen is survived by sons Ken (Donna) and Ron, grandsons Jay (Sue), Jason and Blair, two great-grandchildren and brother Don Otway. She was predeceased by Gordon, her husband of 60 years and daughter Leslie (Morrison).

Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated. Family and friends are invited to an informal farewell to Helen from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 25, 2014 at the Airlane Hotel (Tiberio Room).

On line condolences at: www.jenkens-funeral.ca
