<p> Mr. Carmine Ceci, age 86 years, passed away unexpectedly following a brief illness in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre on Friday Feb. 21, 2014, with his entire family by his side.</p> <p> Carmine was born in Paterno Calabro, Cosenza Italy on June 6, 1927.&nbsp; He immigrated to Canada in 1951, where he met the love of his life, Clara Rapagnetti, who he married on March 29, 1962.&nbsp;</p> <p> Together they raised a large family and enjoyed a marriage of 52 years.&nbsp;</p> <p> Carmine was well known for his vibrant personality, his love of life and especially the twinkle in his eyes, that always let people know how kind and friendly he was.&nbsp; He always had a love for the game of hockey, and was a life long Montreal Canadian fan.&nbsp;</p> <p> He passed his passion for the game on to his children and grandchildren. Dad enjoyed watching and cheering them all on. &nbsp;</p> <p> Upon arrival to Canada, dad was a very hard worker. He was an orderly at St. Joseph Hospital. He also worked as a bartender at the Royalton and the Hodder Avenue Hotels.&nbsp;</p> <p> Carmine was always sharing stories of his work in those early days.&nbsp;</p> <p> In 1977 he was employed by Abitibi Provincial Fine Paper up until his retirement in 1992.&nbsp; Carmine was a long time member of the Italian Centennial Hall where he spent his afternoons with his friends.&nbsp;</p> <p> Carmine will be sadly missed by his wife of 52 years, Clara, his children; Alessandro (Joanne), Angie Stewart, Anna (Peter Specht), John (Corinne), Frank, Carmine Jr. (Susie), Elena (Peter Bruni), and 15 grandchildren.&nbsp; As well, his two great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Carmine is also survived by his sister Carmela Felice, brothers Guiseppie of Belgium, and Salvatore of Italy, and sister in laws, Emma and Maria as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.</p> <p> Carmine was predeceased by his parents, Filippo and Angelina, brothers, Giovanni, Michele, Francesco, Rafele and Ermanno and sisters Maria, Peppina and Giulia.&nbsp; As well as brother in laws, Mario Felice. and Pasquale Tripargoletti; sister in law Adelina and Father and Mother in law, Alessandro and Concetta Rapagnetti.</p> <p> Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony&rsquo;s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 10 a.m. celebrated by Rev. Luigi Filippini.&nbsp;</p> <p> <span style="font-size: 12px;">The entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.<br /> <br /> Visitation for friends will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sargent &amp; Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street where the Vigil Service will begin at 5 p.m.&nbsp; </span></p> <p> <span style="font-size: 12px;">If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Carmine may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, as well as the Kidney Foundation.&nbsp; </span></p> <p> <span style="font-size: 12px;">Online condolences may be made at <a href="http://www.sargentandson.com" target="_blank">www.sargentandson.com</a>.</span></p> <p> &nbsp;</p> <p> &nbsp;</p>
