Peacefully at his home on Wednesday, December 17th, Edward Michele Rigato, age 82 passed away surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was born on July 24, 1932 in Port Arthur to Art and Marie. He attended St. Joseph's and Port Arthur Technical Institute. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony's Church, Thunder Bay Golf and Country

Club and a 50 year member of The Italian Society of Port Arthur.  Ed worked at Lakehead Motors for 37 years in sales and service and was awarded many Chrysler Gold Medal Awards, including new car sales
leadership in Canada.

Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His most cherished times were spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was proud to attend his grandchildren's sports, music and academic functions whenever he was able. Many memories were made at McKenzie Beach with family and friends over the years. Ed's legacy is the love he felt for his family and the many wonderful memories we shared over the years.

Ed is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 57 years and caregiver for many years, Joan; daughter Cindy (Tom) Mustapic and their children Christian and Matthew; son Michael (Celia) Rigato and their children Michelle and Anthony. Ed is also survived by nephew Doug Zanutto and niece Janice (Paul) Roffey, in-laws Rita Gravina, Mike Chochla, Mary and Bob Zanni, and Bill and Lorna Covello, as well as numerous Rigato cousins and Covello nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Art and Marie Rigato, and sister and brother-in-law Rita and Joe Zanutto.

The family would like to extend many thanks for the support and care provided by Dr. Chris Allison over the years, and also to the Community Care Access Centre team, including the daily support workers and the palliative nurses from Bay Shore.‎

Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2014 when family and friends will gather in St. Anthony’s R.C. Church for the Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. celebrated by Rev.
