Thelma Laidler passed away peacefully on January 6, 2015 at the age of 91 with a supportive family.
Thelma was born on September 3, 1923 to Thomas and Mary-Ann Spring in Cloud Bay, Ontario. Thelma worked as a caregiver for the Caldwell family and Dr. Diamond. Married to George Laidler Sr. on December 18, 1946 and raised 10 children.
Thelma took great pride in her family and especially enjoyed every family get together with them. Thelma was a kind lady with a generous heart who welcomed everyone into her home offering them a fresh slice of home made bread.
Gram was an amazing influence on every one of her grandchildren; teaching them how to bake, play cards, crochet and become as caring and loving as she was. Thelma recently resided at Pinewood Court and was a former resident of Jasper Place for six years.
Cloud Bay is where Thelma's home and heart was. She spent many years there close to family and friends. Survived by son John (Elaine) Laidler Michael (Leanne) Shawna Gabriella Sean (Lisa) Brice Kristofer Daniel, son George (Helena) Laidler Nadeline (Jay) Faith Lena Connie Jordan Alexia Kevin (Susie), son Gerry (Eda) Laidler Carrie (Dave) Ella Kayla Tina (Deryld) Cameron Preston, son Douglas (Brenda) Laidler Anita (Ralph) Mackenzie Clinton (Tammy) Charlene (Chris) Jarryd Cydney Francesca, son Raymond Laidler (Ursala) Shawn Rebecca Adam (Chelsea) Mia Hunter Meaghan, daughter Margaret (Martin) Stajkowski Allana (Rob) Ava Hailey Jenny (Ross) Anderson Jillian (Jake) Marissa, daughter Frances (Bernie) Oleksuk Mary-Ann (Rob) Emily Ryan Bernie (Shelley) Curtis Kaitlyn, daughter Carolyn Laidler, and daughter Linda (Bruce) Stajkowski Derek (Tamara) Dylan Cole. Predeceased by spouse George Laidler Sr., son Allan, siblings Ellen (Ed) Dechaine, Dave (Olga) Spring, Harold (Cathy) Spring, Nettie (Edwin) Bernauer, Margery (Toimi) Maenpaa, Lois (Al) Schwab, Mainard (Ann) Spring, Margaret, Nellie, Wesley and William Spring.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Calvary Lutheran Church from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church. Interment to follow at Cloud Bay Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the Calvary Lutheran Church.
Thelma Laidler will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
