Mary Anne Slongo
August 24, 1934 – January 8, 2015

It is with profound sadness that the family of Mary Anne Slongo (Macchi) announce her passing on January 8, 2015 at the age of 80.

Mary was born on August 24, 1934 in Port Arthur, ON. She was a truly beautiful woman who cared most deeply for her family and friends. She loved homemaking, gardening, baking, swimming, walking and shopping. In her early years she was very active until her health began to slow her down. Over the last five years, she overcame many hurdles, each one setting her back a little bit more. She loved life right to the end of her battle, and leaves behind a large void in our family.

Mary was a member of the St. Elizabeth Church CWL and a volunteer at the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Mary is survived by her husband Ernie (Sweetie Pie) of 58 years; daughters Wendy (Robbie), Karen, and son Ernie (Ivana); grandchildren Tyler, Lacey, Joshua, Robyn (Brian), Stephen, Brenden and her special great granddaughter Abigail; brother Eddie (Sarah), Uncle Johnny Agostino, brothers-in-law Ron (Kathy), Norman (Violet), Ted (Linda) and sister-in-law Arlene (Mike) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her parents Louis and Rose Macchi and in-laws Cyril and Marguerite Slongo.

Funeral Services for the late Mrs. Mary Slongo will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 AM in St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Terry Sawchuk. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum at St. Andrew's Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday evening after 6:00 PM in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 Gore Street West at James with Vigil Prayers offered at 8:00 PM. Should friends so desire donations made in memory of Mary to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated.

We all love you Match/Ma/Gramma and you will be truly missed.
