It is with deep sorrow that the family of Yvon Richard, announce his sudden, but peaceful passing, on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at the age of 56. Yvon Ernest Richard was born on December 17, 1958 in Hearst, Ontario, and had resided in Thunder Bay since 1967.

Yvon was also known as “Rocket” to his close friends and those he had worked with during his 37 years at Resolute Forest Products. In the last 11 years of his employment, he worked in the Laboratory as a Process Analyst 1. He had been retired for only 1 year, but lived life to the fullest, since he believed that “life is short”.

Yvon had 2 great passions: first and foremost was exercising, which began when he was a teenager and continued right until the very end – what dedication and perseverance!; his other passion was travelling, which he did regularly with his friends – and loved relaxing on a warm, sandy beach.

His happy, friendly, easy-going nature made it easy for people to like him. His closest friends – Jonas, Brian and Gino – will be forever deeply affected by the loss of this exceptionally “nice guy”.

Yvon will be lovingly remembered, and greatly missed by his three siblings; Joanne Richard, Susan Richard, and Donald Richard (Tammy); one niece, Nicole Richard, and two nephews, Daniel and Cameron Richard. He was predeceased by his father, Clement Richard (June 27, 2011).

Funeral services for Yvon Richard will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 15 at Jenkens from 6 – 8 p.m., with prayers at 7:00 p.m.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or Canadian Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
